B.S. in Music Education from UTC and some education from East Tennessee State University

I have taught music at ELE for 11 years.

Hello ELE parents and community! We are well into our final nine weeks of the school year and there have been many things happening in the music room.

On March the CSO visited the music room. The CSO member presented and read a book to our students for Read Across America. The book is called The Remarkable Farkle McBride by John Lithgow. The students seemed to really enjoy this book about a boy searching to find his favorite instrument to play in the orchestra.

Our 3rd grade students have started playing recorders in music class and have been doing a great job! This week they are learning the notes B-A-and G. By next week they will be learning their first song Hot Cross Buns.

Our 1st and 2nd grade students are learning all about the instruments played in an orchestra. We also have a staff member who will be playing the flute in class for them as well. The students are really excited to hear this performance by a teacher here. Our 4th and 5th graders are learning all about the BLUES!

Our 5th grade students are working on a writing assignment in music class called A MOTOWN REVIEW. They will be writing essays, listening to music and learning about the singing groups and solo singers during the the Motown era.

Finally, our 5th grade students will be preparing for their 5th grade promotion program later in May. A special song will be prepared for this special occasion. If you need anymore information about this program, please don’t hesitate to call the school. (423-493-0366)
