P.E.  PULSE

Hey East Lake,

It’s about midway through this 2015-2016 school year and we are hitting a strong pace in P.E. these days.  We’re keeping our heart rates up, building and strengthening our muscles and learning new skills every week during our Physical Education class.  I’d like to encourage our boys and girls to share with their families all the things they’re working on in the gym with me these days.  I think it would be great if families would work on fitness together.  It’ll be a fun and healthy activity that would benefit everyone involved.  Parents, habits and behaviors are often learned at an early age.  No one is ever too young or too old to try and be active so let’s get moving!

Our second 9-weeks skill tests are just around the corner.  These tests are a great way for me to assess where our children’s skill levels are so I know what we can work on in the future.  These skill tests are also part of your students’ P.E. grade.  The skill tests this Quarter are mostly basketball related and they are as follows:
        5th Grade - a basketball lay-up
        4th Grade - an overhead pass
        3rd Grade - a chest pass
        2nd Grade - dribbling while moving
        1st Grade - dribbling while stationery
        Kindergarten - Balance

I also wanted to send out a belated congratulations to our Cross-Country team.  They did a great job and each ran a wonderful race.  So Sebastion, Ryan, Mathew, Marquise and Kassan we’re very proud of you.  Keep up the good work.

Next Quarter, in the spring, we will be starting Track Team Tryouts for 3rd – 5th graders.  I need everyone to keep in mind that good behavior is a must if you want to be on our track team.
