Attendance
By law students must attend school daily. It is the parent's responsibility to report all absences to the school. HCDE will allow parents/guardian written excuses to serve as documentation for three (3) of the allowed 5 unexcused absences. All documentation must be submitted for consideration within five (5) of the students returning to school. Students may be excused for three days in the event of a death in their immediate families including mother, father, step parent, brother, sister, or grandparent.
Make up work will be assigned when the child returns to school. Teachers need 24 hours notice to prepare homework to be sent home if the child is not out for more than three days.
Students who exceed five (5) unexcused absences in a nine-week grading period or twenty (20) unexcused absences in a school year, may jeopardize promotion to the next grade level and can be retained for that school year.
