Lauren Velo
I am a Chattanooga native and graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1999. I attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and spent my junior year at Wadham College, Oxford University. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 2003, with a B.A. in Religion. After graduating, I worked in the nonprofit sector, primarily in organizations focused on homelessness and hunger.
After returning to Chattanooga, I entered the Public Education Foundation's Project Inspire program in 2017. I completed my residency year at Battle Academy, and graduated from Lee University in 2018 with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
I was lucky enough to be hired to teach fifth grade in our school in 2018, and I look forward to continuing to learn and teach at East Lake Elementary!
