Mary Ann Clelland

Hello My Name Is...

Mary Ann Clelland

Clelland

I am excited to be in my fourth year of teaching at East Lake Elementary School and look forward to learning and growing with my second grade students!  I was born in Chattanooga and I have a B.A. in Psychology from UTK, an M.S. in Educational Administration from UTK and an M.A. in Teaching from Lee University. I am married and have two daughters.  I enjoy running, hiking, biking, gardening, baking, reading and UT football.

In ELA we will explore exciting subjects such as schools around the world, dinosaurs, and pollinators as we dive deep into rich texts and learn how to use text features.  We will continue to learn and practice spelling patterns and high frequency words as well.  Writing will concentrate on building longer and more complex sentences, while math will emphasize being fluent in addition and subtraction facts within 30, two step word problems and place value. By the end of the year, we will be adding and subtracting three digit numbers! Stay tuned to see all the great things your children can do!
